At least Ten killed includinga lawyer in firing spree

At least 10 people were killed in separate incidents of firing in various parts of the metropolis while firing near Civil Hospital created panic in the neighbourhood on Saturday, Express News reported.

On Friday the city had witnessed 13 killings in its Malir and Landhi areas as a result of an armed clash between rival groups.

According to police, unknown armed men opened fire at Napier road, killing 12 year old boy Chandu and injuring Gul Rehman. The attackers opened fire on people engaged in wall chalking but the boy accidentally came within its range, the police added.

Later, firing took place outside Civil Hospital which forced people to run for safety. Medico legal officer Dr. Liaquat said that a lawyer Syed Mukhtar Abbas Bukhari sustained bullet wounds as a result of firing near Civil Hospital and expired while receiving medical treatment.

According to rescue sources, a hotel owner was gunned down in New Karachi sector 11-D as a result of firing on his hotel.

Police said intermittent firing continued in old city areas of Bohra Pir and Napier Road, creating fear among the residents while the shops and businesses had to pull down shutters.

Two people sustained injuries when unknown assailants opened fire near Saeedabad Makret number 24.

A man was gunned down near Al Asif Square by unidentified attackers, police said.

In Baldia Town and Gulshan-e-Maimar areas unknown armed men killed two people.
