MULTAN,July 11th:Pakistan took part in the International Animal Training for the first time in the history while 14 other European countries representatives also attended the Dog trust International Training Programme. President of Animal Safety Organisation Pakistan(ASOP) Muhammad Usman told mediamen after their return from London that it was a great honour for Pakistan that it was nominated for this training programme. He said that a strong research program generates new knowledge that improves animal health, public health and environmental health.This programme will be a voice for animal welfare by bringing together veterinarians, animal scientists, and other stakeholders to improve animal well being of all species.our goals were: To provide a neutral platform for all animal welfare issues to be identified, discussed, and science-based solutions to be explored, To facilitate local, national, and international multi-agency dialogue and to develop solutions for animal welfare issues. To educate, train and prepare veterinary students, community volunteers, agency representatives, and emergency responders, in the humane treatment of animals in emergency or disaster situations. To coordinate existing expertise, resources and facilities, to expand and provide proper training and educational opportunities for the humane care of animals.To establish a globally recognized animal welfare program that pioneers humane, solution based education programs and promotes studies to develop new ways to address unresolved animal welfare issues.He said that Lynn Stone(France) Gabriele Velich (Austria),Maria Pinto Teixeira, Tania Alvez Silva, Lara Teunissen  (Portugal),K.B.(Kitty) Morgan (Mexico)Max Van Steijn(Netherland)Jenny Popova, Stefan Mateev, Miglena Dimitrova (Bulgaria) Irena Petak (Crotia), Nelly Lopez,  Andrea Tatiana Prince saavedra (Colombia), Maija Seleznova (Latvia) Muhammad Usman, Syed Mubashar Hashmi (Pakistan)andVeronica Rheinberger (Mallorea)attended the training.He said that Animal Safety Organisation Pakistan(ASOP) would foster faculty collaborations, identify funding, oversee scientific projects, and develop new knowledge. ASOP may focus on a particular species group such as companion animals, horses, food animals or wildlife. Health issues and multidisciplinary themes may also define a center: food safety; vectorborne, tropical and other infectious diseases; orthopedics and more. Some centers run entirely on private donations.
