Zaheerul Islam assumed the charge as new Director General (DG) of ISI

Lieutenant General Zaheerul Islam assumed the charge as new Director General (DG) of Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) on Monday.
Lt Gen Zaheerul Islam has replaced Gen Shuja Pasha who retired on Sunday, March 18 after the completion of his tenure.
The new ISI chief reached the headquarters in Islamabad to take charge today. Earlier in the morning the new ISI Chief called on the Prime Minister at briefed him about the day to day developments at the national scene.
Zaheerul Islam has earlier served as the deputy director general of the ISI as a major general. He was then promoted to the rank of lieutenant general and was appointed as corps commander Karachi.
Lieutenant General Zaheerul Islam belongs to the 13 infantry unit Punjab Regiment also saved as GCO Murree.
