Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by nine wickets with a day to spare in the second Test here at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Saturday.Chasing an easy target of 94 runs in a possible 24 overs, Pakistan completed their victory before the end of the penultimate day to take a 1-0 lead in the three-Test series.Opener Mohammad Hafeez remained unbeaten on 59 and Azhar Ali was 29 not out.Both added 77 runs for their unbeaten second wicket partnership after Taufiq Umar was bowled by Rangana Herath for just one.Earlier, off-spinner Saeed Ajmal took 5 wickets for 68 runs to help Pakistan dismiss Sri Lanka for 257 in their second innings. The first Test had ended in draw at Abu Dhabi, while the third and final Test starts in Sharjah on November 3.
Brief scores: Sri Lanka 239 and 257; Pakistan 403 and 94-1.
