Admiral (Retd) Fasih Bukhari appointed as chairman of NAB

A notification confirming the appointment of Admiral (retd) Fasih Bokhari as National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) new chairman was issued by the Law Ministry on Sunday.
The appointment was made after President Asif Ali Zardari brushed aside opposition leader Chaudhry Nisar’s objection to the nomination on technical grounds.
Nisar was of the opinion that Zardari was circumventing the proper consultation process with him and the Chief Justice of Pakistan.
Earlier President Zardari wrote back to Nisar, who rejected Bukhari’s nomination on technical grounds in a recent letter to the president. The government had nominated the former naval chief for the post, which has been vacant since March when the Supreme Court rejected the appointment of Justice (retd) Deedar Hussain Shah.
