Afghan police, backed by NATO-led forces, eliminated 13 Taliban militants and detained 16 others in the country over the last 24 hours, Interior Ministry said in a statement on Thursday. "Afghan National Police (ANP), with the assistance of the coalition forces, launched eight joint operations over the past 24 hours in Kandahar, Helmand, Paktia, Farah, Kunduz and Zabul provinces," said the statement. "As a result of these operations, 13 armed insurgents were killed, 16 other enemies were arrested,"the statement said. During the raids, ANP also found five AK-47 guns, a grenade launcher, a satellite radio and various kinks of ammunition.
