Ten killed and many hurt in on-going spate of killing

At least 10 people have been killed and several others injured in Karachi in different acts of violence. According to reports a policeman was shot dead near his house in Pirabad area by unknown gunmen. While the dead body of Muhammad Iftikhar was found in Kachra Kundi of Alfalahpura. Another man was killed in Baldia No 4 and a man was gunned down near General Hospital IL in Kharadar who could not be identified. A dead body was also recovered from Liyari Art Chowk which according to the police was identified as Muhammad Asim who was a resident of Bihar Colony. Five more people were shot dead in different parts of the metropolis and the city remained tense after the fresh spate of targeted hit Karachi, despite tall claims by the newly appointed Home Minister Manzoor Wasan that law and order situation has been brought under control.
At least 10 more people have been killed in ongoing spate of killings, including police personnel, MQM and Sipah-e-Sahaba workers and a woman.
Reportedly, unidentified people killed a 29-year-old policeman Ali Mazhar who was deployed at the security zone and had also provided security cover to PPPP’s regional leader Bilal Sheikh.
An 18-year-old activist of banned Jaish-e-Muhammad named Saleem was also killed by some unidentified people in Rizvia Society, while another named Gul Waris was wounded.
Meanwhile, confrontation between two warring groups resulted in killing of Jaish-e-Muhammad’s 18-year old activist Aqeel after which both groups entrenched themselves in aggressive mode, transforming the entire scenario in a war-like situation. Police reached the scene and arrested six miscreants.
The dead body of 25-year-old MQM activist, Muhammad Iftikhar was found in Kachra Mandi area, while a brutalised body of a woman dressed in pink was found strangled near an Afghan camp.
A 25-year-old youth was abducted and shot publicly in head and jaws, while the dead bodies of two Kacchi youth were also discovered, creating panic and scare in the area.
