At least nine persons of a family were killed and 13 others injured in head-on collision between van and a truck here in Khanewal on late Sunday night.
According to police a van, carrying family members, which was heading towards airport to see off a lady family member leaving for Umrah, collided head-on with a speeding truck coming from opposite direction at Chawan Bridge, near Kabirwala.
As a result of collision nine people, all of the same family, were killed on the spot while 13 others including women and children sustained injuries.
The police, rescue personnel and locals reached the scene of the accident and helped in rescue operation.
The bodies and injured were shifted to hospital and according to hospital sources condition of 10 among the injured people was serious.
