Five health department employees, working for the polio vaccination campaign, were abducted by militants from Parang Ghar area of Mohmand agency on Saturday morning. According to details, five health workers including a supervisor were on their way to Omarkhel village in Parang Ghar Tehsil of Mohmand agency when they were picked up by militants.
Police officials confirmed the kidnapping of five polio vaccinators from Parang Ghar and said efforts are underway for their early recovery. No one has so far claimed responsibility of the incident. Meanwhile, security forces with the help of jet fighters bombed suspected hideouts and compounds of militants in Baizai Tehsil of Mohmand agency. Local tribesmen said hideouts of militants in Shandra and Alizai came under severe air strikes.
However, no casualties were reported. A majority of the militants, according to officials, have taken shelter in Sooran, near the Pak Afghan border. These militants normally move to Afghan territory if the security forces attack.
