Governor Sindh ,MQM Ministers Resigned, Great blow to PPP

In a major political upheaval, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) highly annoyed over the postponement of AJK Legislative Assembly elections in Karachi, announced on Monday to quit from the Pakistan People's Party led governments in centre and Sindh.
Sindh Governor Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad Khan has also resigned from his position in line with the party decision. A spokesman at the Governor House confirmed that the Governor has sent his resignation to President Asif Ali Zardari. Presidential spokesman Mr Farhatullah Babar however said the President has not yet received the resignation.
Senior MQM leader Farooq Sattar told media here in Karachi on Monday that the MQM leadership and workers have reached the conclusion that it is difficult to go along with the Pakistan People's Party, keeping in view its undemocratic and dictatorial attitude.
"The PPP was unwilling to mend its ways leaving us with no option but to quit the coalition government," Sattar said, adding that MQM lawmakers in federal and provincial assemblies would sit on opposition benches.
'MQM's ministers were powerless and not allowed to work independently.' Farooq Sattar said. Issues were raised in core committees with the PPP leadership on regular basis but to no avail, Sattar informed media persons about the grievances of his party.
Rehman Malik told MQM to stay away from the Azad Jammu and Kashmir assembly's Karachi seat and even threatened to postpone elections, MQM leader said.
He said the MQM supported the government in difficult times but regretted that the PPP did not honour its commitments. He said the party earlier tendered resignations from the Federal Government and now it has taken the decision in line with the aspirations of the people.MQM today also filed a petition in the Sindh High Court (SHC) against the deferment of June 26 scheduled Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJ&K;) elections for the Karachi seats, which is expected to be placed for hearing tomorrow.
On the other hand PPP sources said the senior leadership of the party has taken a very serious notice of the speech of MQM Chief Altaf Hussain and decided not to relent to pressure any more.
The sources indicated that Faisal Raza Abidi was likely to be made new Governor if the resignation of the incumbent Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad was accepted.
Faisal Raza Abidi is presently performing the duties of political advisor to the President.
Earlier, Sindh Chief Minister, Qaim Ali Shah has said that the deferred Kashmir Legislative Assembly elections would be held soon and added we are in contact with our offended allies.
Addressing on the eve of gifting ambulance on behalf of Peoples Primary Healthcare, Sindh CM said, "We are trying through dialogues to win over the MQM and with the aim MQM's grievances would be addressed.
He said he was in contact with Sindh Governor, Dr. Ishratul Ebad and through him holding communications with MQM. "We are all one and everyone should remain satisfied as regards this," he said.
