Ex-Nazims are friends of Pervez Musharraf,2000 letters sent to them to join APML

Under former president Pervez Musharraf’s auspice, members of All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) have started a contact-campaign with the ex-Union counsel nazims across the country to muster public support. APML has dispatched letters signed by Pervaiz Musharraf to various political big guns, asking them to join APML to revive the policies of Musharraf era.
In the letter, former UC nazims have been instigated for an active role in the politics in the larger national interests by saying that the present rulers have failed to save public interests. Musharraf, through the letter, did not only seek the UC Nazims support but also gave them a message that they were the people who could get the country and nation out of prevailing crisis situation. Musharraf urged them to join the APML.
The APML sources have claimed that out of 64000 former UC Nazims, as many as 140 have formerly joined the party, while more than 200 would announce their ingress during the Pervez Musharraf first ever direct contact with the masses in Pakistan on April 17 (today). The party insiders told Pakistan Today that in the first phase of its contact-campaign with Nazims, APML has dispatched more than 20000 letters to the UC of almost 20 districts across Punjab, while rest of the districts would be covered within first week of April.
All the other provinces will also be covered, they said. They further said party had already kicked off its drive to establish party structure across the country from union council to central level in addition to activating different wings of APML including students, traders and labour wings.
On the other hand, the party sources said, former president is going to launch a direct public liaison campaign through addresses beginning from Sunday April 17 in Lahore via video.
PML-N rejects truce offer
LAHORE - Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has strongly rejected truce offered by former president Pervaiz Musharraf, saying it is out of question and even absurd. PML-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif and the former chief of the army staff developed animosity after latter sent Nawaz-led government packing in October 12, 1999.
Both always exchanged salvo and have never sat down to reconcile. This is the first time that former general Musharraf offered an olive branch to PML-N, though without seeking pardon on what he did by toppling PML-N government and sacking CJP along with breaking constitution on November 3, to have a peace with party and party leadership. However PML-N turned down the patch-up move.
According to sources, former president Pervez Musharraf expressed his desire to make peace with Nawaz Sharif. PML-N senior leader Iqbal Zafar Jhagra said that Musharraf better to return country and face treason case against him under article 6. “If court proves him innocent, which is impossible as he smashed the constitution, toppled a democratic government, killed the people in Lal Masjid carnage and held judiciary in abeyance and then PML-N would decide the strategy accordingly,” he added.
He said that PML-N had not a personal grudge against Musharraf but his acts and truce was of no value. Yasir Habib
