Voters verification from July 18, 37 million bogus voters deleted

Secretary Election Commission Ishtiaq Ahmed told Supreme Court (SC) that 37 million bogus votes have been removed from the electoral rolls and names of 36 million new voters have been incorporated in the lists.
A three-strong bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammed Chaudhry heard the case seeking a revision of electoral rolls and a reform of the electoral process.
Ishtiaq Ahmed told the court the voter lists would be verified from July 18 and 100,000 people would be mobilized for home to home campaign for the purpose.
He further said new lists would be published in December and it would be ensured for a person to cast only one vote.
Petitioner Hamid Khan pleaded the court to keep the petition pending until a clear-cut strategy is brought to the fore.
The court directed by-elections be managed with the Election Commission within 15 days; if the same did not take place, the court would deliver its ruling.
