The Turkish police arrested 49 people on drug trafficking charges in the western province of Bursa on Friday. The police detained 66 people in operation "Summer Cleaning" and arrested 49 of them, the state-run Anatolia news agency reported. No information was available about whether any drug were seized during the operation. Simultaneous raids were carried out in five areas and a total of 88 sites were raided. Turkey is a key transit route for smuggling drugs from Asia and the Middle East to markets in western Europe.
