Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir on Tuesday said that the United States has not contacted Pakistan with regards to handing over Osama bin Laden’s widows, Express new has learnt.
Bashir said that US President Obama’s visit to Pakistan has not been postponed however, there is no date confirmed as yet.
Bashir said that if the US wanted Pakistan’s cooperation, it needed to stop sending messages through the media and instead contact the government directly.
He said that fighting the war on terrorism is in Pakistan’s own interest and so far, the country’s relations with the US are heading in the right direction.
Where Bashir stated that there has been no formal request from the US regarding Osama’s widows, US officials have said that Pakistan has reportedly allowed them to have access to the women. However, Pakistani officials said that no decision has been taken in this regard.
