MULTAN,April 27th:Three accused of Mukhtar Mai gangrape case, named Muhammad Puchar son of Karim Bakhsh, Khalil Ahmed Mastoi son of Ghulam Hussain and Khalil 's father Ghulam Hussain did not reach at their homes,said Muhammad Bakhsh Jatoi ,an elder of Mastoi clan.He said that all the accused scattered soon after their release from New Central Jail Multan because they were afraid of Police.Those who reached at home are: Faiz Bakhsh Mastoi (head of punchayat) Fayyaz Muhammad, Muhammad Aslam son of Mehmood,Allah Ditta son of Jan Muhammad , Allah Ditta son of Imam Bakhsh, Ghulam Fareed son of Allah Bakhsh, Faiz Muhammad son of Kher Muhammad ,Nazar Hussain, Muhammad Qasim, Faiz Bakhsh son of Karim Bakhsh.It may be recalled that A case No.405/2002 was registered in Police station Jatoi on June 30,2002 under section 10(4) of Zina ordinance,Anti terrorism act.Anti Terrorism court Dera Ghazi Khan awarded death sentence to all the 6 accused on September Ist,2002.and acquitted another eight accused granting them benefit of doubt. Later they filed an appeal against this juidgement and LHC Multan bench. While Mukhtar Mai filed an appeal on September 3 against the acquittal of eight persons.Mostly accused offered special prayers on their release and their relatives distributed sweetmeat among the children.Muhammad Bakhsh Mastoi, an elder of the family told," we are peace loving people ,we have no intention to harm Mukhtar Mai or her family' Nine years detention had broken our back,now we would have to stand on our feet,"Relatives and friends are coming to see them from the adjacent villages while people of Meerwala are avoiding to see them because they are afraid of Mukhtar Mai who can implicate them in any false case,"
DPO Muzaffargarh Munir Ahmed Zia Rao has said" we have increased the police contingent in Meerwala to avert any eventuality however everything is normal after the release of Mastois who reached at their homes late night.He said that there was no unprecedented situation in Meerwala. Liaquat Ali Ayyaz SHO Police Station Jatoi said," I have visited Meerwala twice on wednesday.Everything is normal. Neither students nor teachers stayed at home but they fully attended the institution because we have assured them full protection to their parents. Incharge of Police post in Meerwala Ashraf Riaz said that I have received many calls from different people.There is nothing which were they expecting because Mastois are "silent" and they have no intention to avenge,"
