Though Mukhtar Mai refused to file any petition in the court and said that she had left the matter at the mercy of Almighty Allah yet the counsel of Mukhtaran Mai, Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsen, has announced to file a review petition in Supreme Court (SC) against the apex court’s verdict in which four of the five accused were acquitted, Geo News reported Saturday. The former president of Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), Aitzaz Ahsen who is also the Mukhtaran’s lawyer in her rape case, said in a press release that the SC’s verdict to acquit four accused was against legal references and evidences in the case.He said the review plea would try to prove the apex court's judgment wrong in light of legal references and evidences.Aitzaz Ahsan said that if the legal references were taken into proper consideration in Mukhtaran Mai case, the decision would have been different. He said that a review petition in Mukhtaran Mai case would soon be filed in SC and the acquitted accused would be brought to justice. The Supreme Court had released all accused in the case except one alleged perpetrator.
