Police said that the blast took place in a playground when some children brought a strange thing from nearby fields in Jerma village of the Kohat area.
The blast went off when some elder people, watching children playing with the thing, approached them to check it.
Police and rescue teams reached the site and shifted the dead children and injured people to the Kohat city hospital. Police said the nature of the explosive was unable to confirm yet.
